Bandar Lampung, Sumatra (ANTARA Babel) - Volcanic activity has been continuing at Mount Anak Krakatau in the Sunda Strait since early October, according to an observation officer.
"The volcano has not erupted since mid-September," said Andi Suardi, the head of the observation post in Hargopancuran village, Rajabasa subdistrict, South Lampung district, on Thursday.
"However, Mount Anak Krakatau remains on alert status. Therefore, fishermen and tourists have been prohibited from going anywhere within a radius of one to two kilometres from the volcano`s crater," he explained.
Besides, the thick fog around Mount Anak Krakatau has made visual monitoring of the volcano impossible, Suardi added.
