Jakarta (Antara Babel) - The Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) has urged members of the House of Representatives (DPR) to immediately select Busryo Muqoddas or Roby Arya Brata as KPK commissioner that have so far been submitted by the government.
"DPR must immediately name one of them as chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK)," ICW working committees' coordinator Ade Irawan said in a written statement recieved here on Sunday.
He said the decision must be immediately made because the tenure of Busyro Muqoddas will end on December 10, 2014.
After passing long selection processes the selection committee had chosen Busryo Muqoddas, current KPK commission, and Roby Arya Bratam an expert staff of the cabinet secretary, for submission to then President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono who later extended them to DPR on October 16 for a final decision.
"The problem is that DPR has not yet followed it up with further tests while the time available is short as Busyro Muqoddas' tenure will end on December 6, 2014," he said.
Ade Irawan suspected that the DPR had deliberately done it with an intention of repeating the selection in 2015.
The House Commission III dealing among others with legal affairs continued conducting the process without the involvement of faction members from parties grouped in the Great Indonesia Coalition (KIH) in protest against the domination of commission leadership by members of parties grouped in the Red-White coalition that is in opposition with the government.
Commission chairman Aziz Syamsuddin said on Thursday that their absence would not hinder the commission's job especially with regard to the KPK chairman selection.
He said the commission plans to summon minister of justice and human rights Yasonna Laoly, KPK commissioners and selection committee members to discuss the selection.
After that the commission would conduct a fit and proper test for the two candidates on Wednesday.
