Mecca (Antara Babel) - Indonesia's flag carrier Garuda Indonesia has been fined 120 thousand riyals for the delays caused by its aircraft arriving late at the Amir Muhammad bin Abdul Aziz (AMAA) airport.

According to the Hajj Media Center on Thursday, AMAA authorities fined Garuda after eight of its airplanes arrived at the airport after the scheduled time for landing.

The Garuda planes arrived late because of some Indonesian Hajj pilgrims had not been able to obtain visas from the Saudi Embassy in Indonesia.

The departure of pilgrims, who had not yet secured visas from the Saudi embassy based on their flight schedules, was unfortunately canceled.

According to the media center, the vacant flight seats were then allocated to other pilgrims who had already secured visas.

This process took a relatively longer time, causing the departure of the planes to be delayed at a number of flight departure points.
