Koba, Bangka Belitung (Antara Babel)- Education and Culture Minister Anies Baswedan and his family watched the total solar eclipse (TSE) on Terentang beach, Central Bangka, Bangka Belitung Province, on Wednesday.
"I am present here to personally watch the TSE in Central Bangka. I am here with my family," Minister Baswedan stated here on Wednesday.
"The focus of observing the TSE on Terentang Beach is quite clear, and it is situated exactly in front of the audience," he noted.
The TSE is a natural phenomenon, which is a testament to the greatness of Allah SWT, and the students in this area must learn about this phenomenon, he remarked.
"The TSE should be used for self-introspection on how small human beings are and how great the power of Allah SWT is," he pointed out.
Two things learnt from the natural phenomenon are the greatness of Allah SWT and scientific education, he added.
Millions of Indonesians welcomed the solar eclipse by holding various activities, such as mass special eclipse prayers, traditional rituals, and cultural and art performances.
The TSE was visible in 12 of the country's 34 provinces, while partial eclipse could be seen in the rest of the regions of Indonesia, including Jakarta.
