Jakarta (Antara Babel) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) planned on Wednesday to question three witnesses in the examination of a suspect who provided false testimonies in a court session on electronic identity card (e-ID card) corruption case.
"The three are to be grilled as witnesses in the case of suspect Maryam S Haryani (MSH)," KPK Spokesman Febri Diansyah said here on Wednesday.
MSH has been named a suspect for giving false testimonies during the court hearing that examined suspects in the e-ID card corruption scandal, namely Irman, Home Affairs Ministry's former director general of Population and Civil Records (Dukcapil) and Sugiharto, former population information management (PIAK) director at the Dukcapil.
On Wednesday the KPK would question as witnesses Irman, Sugiharto and Yosef Sumartono, a pensioner and former staff member of the directorate general of Dukcapil. They are to be questioned in the MSH suspect case.
KPK named Miryam S Haryani, a member of Commission II of the House of Representatives (DPR) for 2009-2012 of the Hanura political party faction, as a suspect for deliberately providing false information during the court session of suspects Irman and Sugiharto.
Miryam S Haryani is charged with violating Artical 22 in conjunction with Article 35 Law No. 31 Year of 1999 as amended by Law No. 20 Year of 2001 on Elimination of Corruption Crime.
The articles regulate the sanction for those who deliberately provide false testimonies with a maximum punishment of 12 years imprisonment and a maximum fine of Rp600 million.
"Miryam S Haryani is the fourth to be names suspect by the KPK in the corruption scandal of the e-ID card procurement project.
The KPK has also previously named a suspect Andi Abustinue (AA) of a private company and two others whose cases are already in the court session process, namely Irman and Sugiharto," Diansyah said.
In a court hearing on Thursday (March 23), was mentioned to have received US$23 thousand with regard to the e-ID card project worth Rp595 trillion and was believed to have incurred a loss to the state amounting to Rp2.3 trillion.
