Makassar, S Sulawesi, Oct 18 (ANTARA) - A number of rowers from ten countries will take part in the International Celebes Dragon Boat Festival which is scheduled to be held at the Losari Beach, here on November 2-4.
An official of the Indonesian Paddle Sports Association (PODSI) South Sulawesi chapter, Suting Jafar said here Wednesday that the ten participating countries are China, Hong Kong, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, New Zealand, Taiwan and Indonesia as the host.
"We are also invited to take part in the world championship. I think there is no problem because our athletes also have good quality," he noted, adding that the South Sulawesi province will make use of this rare event as optimal as possible.
He also expressed a hope that the participation of the provincial young athletes in the world event can improve their mentality.
According to him, some of the provincial rowing athletes are
Wahyudi, Kaisar, Riswan, Jumadi, Mahendra, Amandah Aulia Sari, Fitriani Susanti and Rismawati.
Losari Beach is a very popular tourist resort in the city of Makassar and a very strategic location that could be achieved through the Sultan Hasanuddin Airport of Makassar by car or motorbike just about 15 minutes.
