Pangkalpinang (Antara Babel) - AirAsia flight QZ 8501 traveling from Surabaya (East Java province) to Singapore was reportedly missing in Belitung waters, a spokesman of local search and rescue team in Pangkalpinang, Supriandi, said here on Sunday.
According to Supriandi, the plane had likely experienced turbulence after flying spirally to avoid storm.
The plane has 155 passengers consisting of 138 adults, 16 children and an infant, aboard.
According to information collected by Antara, the AirAsia plane flight QZ 8501 departed from Surabaya`s Juanda airport at around 05:20 Western Indonesian Time (WIB).
The plane was scheduled to arrive in Singapore at 08:30 am local time. Surabaya`s airport traffic authorities said it lost contact with the plane at around 07:55 am local time
