Pangkalpinang (Antara Babel) - State owned tin mine mining company PT Timah reported an increase in income to Rp7.37 trillion in 2014 from RpRp5.85 trillion in the previous year.

"The increase income followed a surge in production to 32,319 tons in 2014 from 26,204 tons of tin mineral in 2013," company spokesman Renny Hutagalung said here on Thursday.

The company production of tin metal totaled  27,550 tons  from 23,718 tons with sales rising to 26,907 tons from 23,237 tons.

"Its assets also rose  to Rp9.75 trillion from Rp8.24 trillion," Renny said.

The company accounted for 40 percent  of the country's total exports of tin  up from 10 percent.

"Last year, we succeeded in increasing sales to 26,907 tons that the performance of the company remained goods with net profit rising to Rp637.95 billion," she said.

He attributed the increase in net profit partly to efficiency by reducing production cost.

In addition, PT Timah also continues plan to expand downstream tine industry to produce tin solder  and tin chemical by a subsidiary.

The company has also expanded operation to coal mining and property business in cooperation with two state construction companies, Renni said.
