Pangkalpinang, Bangka Belitung (Antara Babel) - In June, tin exports from Bangka Belitung saw a sharp rise of 93.63 percent, from US$66.92 million in May to US$129.59 million, according to the Statistics Bureau of the island province.
"The largest amount of the exports was sent to the Netherlands, accounting for 151.71 percent. It was worth US$7.44 million to US$18.74 million," Head of the Statistics Bureau of Bangka Belitung Herum Fajarwati said here on Thursday.
Exports to Singapore rose 138.36 percent, from US$32.82 million to US$78.24 million; exports to Japan increased 60.67 percent, from US$3.64 million to US$5.84 million; to India by 42.46 percent, from US$5.33 million to US$.59 million; and to Taiwan by 40.17 percent, from US$5.11 million to US$7.17 million.
"The contribution of the five countries accounted for 116.35 percent of the exports, an increase from US$54.35 million to US$117.58 million," she stated.
Fajarwati further noted that as compared to the tin exports worth US$785.30 million recorded in the January to June period in 2014, the January to July period this year saw a 30.26 percent drop to US$547.63 million.
The largest decrease was to Singapore at 41.01 percent, from US$584 million to US$344.53 million; to the Netherlands at 25.98 percent, from US$86.15 million to US$63.37 million; and to Japan at 26.72 percent, from US$25.07 million to US$18.37 million.
Moreover, tin exports to Taiwan rose 231.75 percent, from US$11.35 million to US$37.64 million, and to India by 138.83 percent, from US$16.08 million to US$38.40 million.
In addition, non-tin exports decreased 6.89 percent, from US$21.39 million in May to US$19.92 million in June.
Exports of various chemical products saw the largest decline, from US$1.08 million to zero; exports of animal and vegetable fats dropped 11.45 percent, from US$18.39 million to US$16.28 million; and those of fish and processed fish products decreased 4.40 percent, from US$0.39 million to US$0.37 million.
However, the export value of coffee, tea and spices increased 7.93 percent, from US$1.34 million to US$2.64 million, and that of the food industry increased from zero to US$0.26 million.
