The Bangka Belitung Islands Province's COVID-19 Handling Task Force said six out of seven regencies and cities in the Babel Islands Province on Thursday (29/12) had no additional COVID-19 cases, because public awareness of implementing health protocols ahead of the 2023 New Year's celebration had been good.

He said the six regencies/cities without additional cases of people exposed to the corona virus were Pangkalpinang City, Bangka, Central Bangka, West Bangka, South Bangka, East Belitung, so that the total number of COVID-19 patients undergoing quarantine remained 65 people.

"Currently, the number of patients recovering from COVID-19 has also increased by 12 and none have died," he said.

He stated that with the addition of 12 patients recovering from COVID-19, the remaining 65 active patients were spread in Belitung 37, Bangka 6, West Bangka 6, Central number 6, South Bangka 4, Pangkalpinang 4 and East Belitung 2 patients.

"We continue to try to suppress and prevent the transmission of the corona virus through supervising the implementation of prokes and booster vaccinations ahead of this New Year's celebration," he said.

Head of the West Bangka Regency COVID-19 Handling Task Force Achmad Nursyandi said that in the last few months the number of cases in the area has been sloping and there has never been a significant spike in cases like the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
