The Government of West Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province, facilitated the implementation of the Seven Likur Cultural Festival which was held by residents of Mancung Village, Kelapa District as an effort to preserve local culture to welcome Eid al-Fitr.
Deputy Regent of West Bangka Bong Ming Ming in Mentok, Sunday, said that the Seven Likur culture is an expression of the joy of the people of Mancung Village in welcoming the arrival of the Eid al-Fitr holiday.
"This culture has been going on for generations and is carried out in the month of Ramadan, with its peak being held on the 27th night of Ramadan. This is a form of gratitude as well as an effort by residents to build togetherness and strengthen ties of friendship," said Bong MIng Ming.
According to him, the Seven Likur culture needs to continue to be preserved and developed so that in the future it will be even more lively and can attract many tourists to West Bangka.
"Currently many young people are directly involved in the preparation and implementation of this festival, we are sure that in the future it will be even better and more lively," he said.
Seven Likur is a tradition of Mancung Village residents in the month of Ramadhan which involves lighting lamps. In ancient times lamps were only installed in front of each house starting 10 days before Eid al-Fitr, but in recent years these lamps have been created into various shapes. a gate decorated with lamps erected along the village road.
Various gates decorated with lamps in the shape of mosques, animals and various other decorations liven up the atmosphere of Ramadan nights in the village.
"Hopefully this Islamic nuanced culture will bring us the blessing of togetherness, long life and abundant fortune, we must be proud of the culture that exists in this village and hopefully it can be preserved," he said.
According to him, the tradition that has been going on for years in the village needs to continue to be maintained because it has good values that are worthy of being passed on to the next generation.
The Regent of West Bangka, Sukirman, said that the implementation of the Seven Likur culture in Mancung Village was a form of gratitude from the residents because they were still given the opportunity to fast during the month of Ramadan.
"In this blessed month, residents are filled with useful things. We need to continue to support this activity so that in the future it will be more meaningful and lively," he said.
