West Bangka offers tourism development to investor

Muntok, Babel, (Antara Babel) - In its effort to increase regional revenue, the West Banka district government in Bangka-Belitung (Babel) Province has offered its tourism sector to investors to develop.


"We are open to all investors who would like to manage the tourism attractions in West Bangka to increase regional revenue," local culture and tourism office spokesman Yanuar said here on Friday.


Yanuar explained that in every opportunity, the district government continues to promote the local tourism potential to investors to develop in the western tip of Bangka Island.


He noted that West Bangka has many religious, historic, and natural tourism attractions but unfortunately no investor has so far wanted to develop them because of several shortcomings.


"We realize that there are several shortcomings in terms of infrastructure but we are optimistic that the tourism sector here will in the future be able to compete with that in other regions," Yanuar said.


Therefore he noted that the local government would continue to encourage both domestic and foreign investors to develop the tourism industry in West Bangka to increase regional economy.


Yanuar pointed out that with adequate management by investors, the natural tourism objects of  Batu Rakit Beach, Menumbing rest house, and Dendang Hot Springs would attract a multitude of both domestic and foreign tourists to visit West Bangka.


According to him Batu Rakit Beach is potential enough to be developed into a family sport and recreational object.


Meanwhile, Menumbing rest house has historic value because the house used to be the residence of Bung Karno and Bung Hatta when they were exiled to Bangka island during the Dutch colonial era.


To introduce the  tourist objects, he said the West Bangka district government would continue to make familiarization through photos and brochures to attract many tourists.


Yanuar expressed hope that the local people would actively improve their creativity by creating various typical crafts for souvenirs in a bid to support tourism in their area.
