Sentul, W Java (Antaranews Babel) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has mentioned the fact that Indonesia had amended its 1945 Constitution (UUD 1945) four times to change the state administration system.
"By amending the UUD 1945 four times, we have changed our state administration system. And The People's Consultative Assembly(MPR), which was previously the highest state institution, has been turned into a state institution, similar to others, with the consideration of strengthening check and balances," the Head of State said, while speaking before participants of the two-day National Leadership Meeting of the Democratic Party (PD), here on Saturday.
A change is inevitable in democracy, he stated in the presence of some 11 thousand cadres of the Democratic Party from across Indonesia.
He added that the change in democracy has also been reflected in the political party system in Indonesia.
"Our party system has changed into a multiparty, he noted, adding that there are also direct presidential and legislative elections.
The Indonesian people have more freedom in politics, and the freedom is guaranteed, he added.
The information technology has also helped promote the freedom of expression among the public, he remarked.
He invited the Democratic Party founded by former president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, to participate in developing a better democratic system in Indonesia.
