Jakarta (Antara Babel) - The Foreign Ministers from MIKTA (Mexico, Indonesia, South Korea, Turkey and Australia) countries met on the sideline of G20 meeting in Brisbane, Australia, Saturday, the Indonesian Foreign Affairs Ministry said in a press statement here on Sunday.
The Ministers namely José Antonio Meade from Mexico, Retno L.P. Marsudi (Indonesia), Yun Byung-se (South Korea), Mevlüt Çavu¿o¿lu (Turkey) and Julie Bishop (Australia) discussed ways to improve the cooperation between MIKTA countries such as the possibility to exchange students and diplomats and enhancement of trade cooperation.
The ministers also discussed several global challenges post 2015 MDGs target such as climate change food and energy security. The ministers also highlighted other latest issues such as terrorism, humanitarian situation in several places in the world and the ebola virus.
MIKTA is an informaal consultative forum at the ministerial level which was established on September 25, 2013. The forum aims to increase real cooperation among its members particularly in economy, trade, social and cultural.
The ministers of MIKTA countries will meet three times every year namely on the sidelines of UN General Assembly, G20 meetings and retreats meeting organized by the foreign affairs ministers of MIKTA countries themselves.
