Jakarta (ANTARA) - Statistics Indonesia (BPS) has reported that Indonesians' Anti-Corruption Behavior Index (IPAK) has reached 3.85 in 2024, which is 0.29 points lower than the target set in the 2024 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN).
"The IPAK score reached 3.85, experiencing a 0.07 point decline compared to the 2023 IPAK, which stood at 3.92," acting BPS head Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti said here on Monday.
According to her, the decline shows that the community has become more permissive about acts of corruption.
She noted that the decline has been caused by the weakening of the perception index and community experience index related to public services.
Widyasanti explained that IPAK is a measure that reflects anti-corruption behavior in society measured on a scale of zero to 5.
The higher the score, the higher the anti-corruption culture in society. On the contrary, the lower the IPAK score, the more permissive the society is toward corrupt behavior.
She informed that the index describes a person's behavior and experiences related to petty corruption as well as grand corruption, or high-level abuse of power, that benefits a few people at the expense of society.
She further said that the 2024 IPAK has been calculated based on a survey on anti-corruption behavior conducted in 186 sample districts and cities.
The number of census block samples in the survey, which was carried out from April 22May 22, 2024, was 1,100, with the target number of household samples reaching 11 thousand.
The collected data included opinions or perceptions of habits in society and experiences related to public services in relation to bribery, extortion, and nepotism.
In the last five years, Indonesia's IPAK has stagnated at around 3.8 to 3.9 points.
