Jakarta (Antara Babel) - President Joko Widodo greeted US Vice President Michael Richard Pence by holding a veranda talk on the terrace of the State Palace, Jakarta.
Based on Antara's observation, soon after Widodo welcomed Vice President Pence, the president invited him to the palace's terrace for one of his veranda talks.
The two leaders held a conversation in a relaxed atmosphere for 10-15 minutes.
Veranda talk is an opportunity offered by the Indonesian president to his guests who share a special proximity with him.
Vice President Pence and Indonesian President Widodo are scheduled to hold a joint press statement and watch cultural performances.
On the occasion, First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo greeted Karen Pence as part of the Spouse Program.
The US vice president will hold a bilateral meeting with his Indonesian counterpart Jusuf Kalla at the Vice Presidential Palace at around 11:40 a.m. local time.
Foreign Ministry's spokesman Armanatha Nasir stated that Pence and Kalla will discuss bilateral economic cooperation and enhancement of strategic partnership between the US and Indonesia.
"It is also related to the situation and the role of the US in the region as well as the fight against terrorism and radicalism," he added.
