Jakarta (Antara Babel) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's Democrat Party until now has not taken a stance following the victory of the Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla duo in the July 9 presidential election, a party official said.
"However, I believe the final decision of the Democrat Party's executive board will be aimed at assisting to make the process of democracy development more effective," Hayono Isman, a member of the Democrat Party's board of patrons, said here on Thursday.
The Democrat Party had declared neutrality, but ahead of the voting day many of its officials had declared support to the Prabowo-Hatta pair.
Several others meanwhile had expressed their preference to the Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla duo, including Hayono Isman.
Hayono Isman said the Democrat Party would certainly analyze which stance will be more effective for the people to help promote the process of democracy development in the country.
His statement came following the announcement of the Democrat Party's deputy chairman of the board of patrons, Marzuki Alie, that the party would remain outside the new government but critical to its policies.
Hayono Isman said Marzuki Alie's statement was merely personal.
"I believe it to be a personal statement. I have never heard about it at the meetings of the Supreme Council so far," he said.
Hayono expressed concern that certain quarters have already voiced threats to unseat Joko Widodo even before his inauguration as president.
He called on all quarters to provide an opportunity to Joko Widodo and Jusuf Kalla to build their government first.
"Do not undermine their programs as yet for interests that are still obscure in the parliament," he said.
He said support to the Joko Widodo and Jusuf Kalla government could be provided from inside or outside, adding political parties outside the government could provide support by way of constructive criticism.
