Jakarta (Antara Babel) - A political observer said it was not impossible that the next government of Joko "Jokowi" Widodo will be frequently disrupted in parliament until the right moment arrived for his impeachment.
"It will always be disrupted until the right time comes to impeach him," Hermawan Sulistyo, a political development research professor with the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), said here on Friday.
Earlier, a senior politician from Golkar Party, Zainal Bintang, said it was not impossible that the Red-White coalition had a hidden agenda to destabilize and disrupt Jokowi's government. He was referring to the coalition's plan to seek the revision of a number of laws.
Hermawan said the agenda was clear to the public and advised Jokowi to be very careful while running the government as his camp so far stood defeated in parliament.
"They don't bother about the country's improvement. We can see it in their behavior," he added.
Hermawan noted that the opposition has now proposed a vote system that will allow parties winning 50 percent plus one vote to control the parliament.
He pointed out that if the winner takes the control of every system, it will create political instability for the next five years.
"I do not believe the Red-White coalition can be persuaded," he stated.
The Red-White coalition consists of Golkar Party, the Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra), the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), the United Development Party (PPP), the National Mandate Party (PAN) and the Democrat Party.
The coalition that supported the Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa pair in the presidential election on July 9 secured the leadership of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) and the House of Representatives (DPR).
No member from the Great Indonesia coalition led by the Indonesia Democratic Party of Struggle (the winner of the legislative elections on April 9) holds a single leadership role in the MPR and DPR.
Other parties of the coalition that supported the Jokowi-JK duo were the National Democrat Party, the Nation Awakening Party and the People's Conscience Party.
In the MPR leadership election, the PPP shifted its loyalty to the Great Indonesia coalition after it was refused a role in the DPR leadership.
