Lubuk Besar, Babel (Antara Babel) - Police of the sub-district of Lubuk Besar in Central Bangka district, Bangka-Belitung (Babel) province, discussed with community leaders preventive measures against possible infiltration of agents of the Iraq, Syria Islamic State (ISIS) in that area.

"We have not seen signs of the radical Islamic movement surfacing in this area but we need to take precaution to guarantee security," Lubuk Besar police chief first inspector Henri Amor said here on Saturday.

Henri said all mass organizations  and community   and religious leaders in this area gathered here on Friday to discuss security  related to threat of the ISIS ideology  to religious harmony  and social security.

He said the initiative  was taken in line with an instruction from  higher authorities to oppose the ISIS movement that calls for the establishment of an Islamic state in the country.

Police want the people aware that ISIS is a threat to peace  and security, he said.

"Cooperation with the community and religious leaders is important as they are always close to the people," he said.

Ahmad Syukri, head of the Islamic mass guidance section at the religious affairs office, said there had been no sign of ISIS operating in Central Bangka.

ISIS movements have been reported in a number of areas mainly in Java  and police have arrested a number of suspects but they were  released for lack of evidence .

A number of Indonesians have been reported  joining ISIS movement in Syria  and one of them had been killed in suicide bombing there.
