Jayapura, Papua (Antara Babel) - The governments of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea (PNG) have agreed to jointly inaugurate a cross-border post between the two countries, according to a Papua provincial government official.
"The PNG government is waiting and ready to jointly inaugurate the cross-border post after its construction is completed by the Indonesian side," the head of the Border Management and International Cooperation in Papua, Suzana D. Wanggai, remarked here Saturday.
Based on the agreement, the cross-border post cannot be inaugurated unilaterally by Indonesia, and therefore, the PNG government is waiting for the completion of the post, she noted.
The cross-border post in Skouw could be jointly inaugurated at the end of this year because it is near completion, Wanggai predicted.
"The cross-border post in Skouw is projected to be completed either in September or October, and the inauguration could take place at the end of November or early December this year," she said.
