Jakarta (Antara Babel) - Indonesia has become a guest country, or the "Nation on Show", in the largest "Perth Royal Show" taking place September 24 to October 1, 2016 in Claremont, Western Australia, according to a press release from the Indonesian Consulate General in Perth on Thursday.

In the opening ceremony at the Perth Royal Show, the Indonesian Consul General in Perth, Ade Padmo Sarwono, praised the Royal Agricultural Society of Western Australia, which has named Indonesia as the guest country at the Perth Royal Show.

Sarwono expressed his hope that Indonesia's participation in the fair would showcase its cultural diversity and a variety of traditional culinary dishes, helping to attract visitors to the show.

He also said Indonesia's presence at the fair is expected to establish a cultural closeness with Australia, to improve interactions between the people of the two countries, and to increase tourist arrivals to Indonesia.

At the fair, Indonesia introduced dance performances, traditional music and songs from various provinces, as well as a batik workshop, and performances of the gamelan and angklung musical instruments.
