Koba, Bangka Belitung (Antara Babel)- As many as 22 yachts from eight countries have laid for anchor in Ketawai Island beach, Central Bangka District, Bangka Belitung Islands Province, for a Sail Karimata Strait event.
The yachts came from Germany, France, the US, Sweden, Australia, Switzerland, Italy, and Singapore, Mukhlisin of the local organizing committee of the international maritime event, said here, Sunday.
Five of them had arrived on Oct 15 and later left for Tanjung Pinang, while the rest just arrived few days ago, he said.
At present 17 yachts were still on Ketawai Island and planned to leave on Monday (Oct. 24), he said.
The Ketawai administration organized traditional cultural and art performances to entertain the visitors.
"Those yachters have also participated in a beach cleaning activity," he remarked.
