Pangkalpinang, Bangka-Belitung (Antara Babel) - Sports minister Imam Nahrawi opened Motor Cross Grand Pric 2017 at Sahabudin Sports Hall here on Sunday.
"We have continued to give support to make the international sport event successful as this is not Pangkalpinang's event but Indonesia's," he said in his opening speech.
He said Indonesia has been ready as the host in terms of funding and public participation of the automitive international event.
"We as the host must do our best as confidence is not easy to get," he said.
He said this year Indonesia would host Asean Games with the events to be carried out in Jakarta, Palembang and Bandung.
"We welcomed world crossers from 24 countries in Pangkalpinang and Indonesia," he said.
He thanked the provincial government, the regional police command, Sriwijaya Air and the people of Bangka-Belitung for their support to the international event.
"The central government would continue its support for the event," he said.
