Muntok, Bangka Belitung Islands (Antaranews Babel) - The West Bangka district government, Bangka Belitung Islands Province, initiated a network-based or "online" marketing training to enable small businesses to utilize market opportunities in the modern era.
"Businessmen need to hone their online business skills, so they can compete every time," Head of the Industry Division of Cooperative Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and Industry of West Bangka District Agus Setyadi stated here on Friday.
Setyadi remarked that the online business held promising prospects, but it had not developed in the region owing to the nescience of entrepreneurs.
Most local businessmen, especially SMEs, still depended on traditional marketing strategies. This needs to be changed due to the highly competitive market in the digital era.
"We will coordinate with the regional organization that has mastery in online business techniques, so it could be maximized, especially for small and medium entrepreneurs," he noted.
Earlier, the Department of Communications and Informatics of West Bangka District had held a similar training and managed to raise awareness in the community to open the market for local products.
"We want to sell more local products through online business applications," he emphasized.
Setyadi is optimistic that the plan would be successfully implemented next year, as it offers benefits and holds prospects in a bid to accelerate the development of the local people`s economy.
