Jakarta, (Antara Babel) -  Abraham Samad had better refuse any vice presidential candidacy offer from political parties because he has not yet accomplished his task as Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) chairman, a political observer said.

"He has not yet finished his tasks as the KPK chairman," Siti Zuhro of the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) stated here on Monday.

She said Samad was needed in his position and function as the KPK chairman in the current condition of awful corruption issues being faced by the state.

"If he leaves his present position and runs as a vice presidential candidate, he will set a bad good example," she pointed out.

Siti Zuhro suggested that public officials should understand the ethics and had commitment to carrying out their tasks with full of responsibility until they finish their terms of office.

"If Abraham Samad accepts an offer as a vice presidential candidate from a political party, it will leave the impression that public officials are inclined to easily leave one post and jump to others," the LIPI political scientist said.

"He should have given clear response and reject offers so that it would not leave the impression he stays open for such a chance," she added.

It was earlier reported that  The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) will soon announce the running mate for its presidential candidate Jokowi.

"The name of Jokowi's running mate will be announced between May 10 and May 18. The name of the vice presidential candidate is not different from those often mentioned in the media,"  PDIP Deputy Secretary General Hasto Kristianto said last Friday.

"There are two contenders, Jufuf Kalla and Abraham Samad who were contenders as Jokowi's running mate," he said.
