Jakarta (ANTARA News) - State owned oil company Pertamina has expressed its desire to sponsor the Italian Serie-A football club AC Milan in order to promote the company`s brand across the globe.
"The sponsorship contracts with AC Milan will be sealed immediately, hopefully within a month, so the deal will start in January 1, 2013," Pertamina`s Vice President Corporate Communication, Ali Mundakir, said during a press brief here on Friday.
Ali said that the contract is part of Pertamina`s strategy to increase their influence in the European market after beginning their first lubricants products export "Pertamina Lubricants" to Switzerland on Thursday.
He explained, the agreements will include an advertising in AC Milan`s on home base and also coaching supports for Pertamina Soccer School.
"We asked them to send coaches to train our youngsters, so they can get AC Milan`s training standards in Indonesia," he said, adding that Indonesian Football Associations (PSSI) has welcomed their intention to develop young Indonesian talents.
However, Ali couldn`t mention the sponsorship`s value yet, as the negotiations are still ongoing.
"We will announce the value later as soon as the deal is concluded," he said.
If the deal reached, Pertamina would be the third state owned company from Indonesia which expands their brand through sponsoring European elite football teams after Garuda Indonesia which sponsored English giants Liverpool and Bank Negara Indonesia which cooperated with the UEFA Champions League`s winner Chelsea.
