Jakarta (Antara Babel)- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and First Lady Iriana arrived home, Monday, after attending the Arab Islamic American Summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Sunday.
The Indonesia-1 presidential aircraft landed at the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base at 9:54 a.m. local time, Bey Machmudin, head of the press, media, and information bureau of the Presidential Secretariat, stated.
The head of state was greeted by Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Head of the Presidential Staff Teten Masduki, Acting Governor of Jakarta Djarot Saiful Hidayat, National Police Chief Tito Karnavian, and Chief of Staff of the Air Force Marshall Hadi Tjahjanto, among others.
The Indonesia-1 aircraft departed from the King Salman Airport in Riyadh on Sunday at 7:35 p.m. local time, or 11:35 p.m. Western Indonesian Standard Time, and made a transit for 50 minutes in Banda Aceh, Aceh Darussalam Province, on Monday morning.
While addressing the summit, attended by US President Donald Trump, among others, President Jokowi called for unity among Muslim-majority countries.
"Unity is the key to building partnership. In view of this, it is important to first build brotherhood among Muslims," he said.
While referring to the bombings in Bali in 2002 and 2005 as well as in Jakarta in January 2016, Jokowi said Indonesia had become a victim of terrorism.
He said the use of arms and military force alone will not be sufficient to fight terrorism and extremism.
According to heresies, this issue can only be handled by adopting the right way of thinking, and Indonesia believes in the importance of using a balance of hard and soft power approaches to deal with it.
"Besides hard power, Indonesia has also used soft power through religious and cultural approaches," he noted.
President Jokowi expressed belief that Indonesia has the best deradicalization program in the world.
