"Hopefully the power plant would contribute to increasing the electrification ratio in West Papua," Jonan said when commissioning the power generating plant in Tambrauw on Wednesday.
The minister said the power plant would be able to supply electricity for the illumination of up to 3,000 households.
He said the government hope that electrification ratio could reach 85 percent in all Papua in 2019.
Earlier the minister commissioned a new airport with a 1,400 meter long 30 meter wide runway in Tambrauw, West Papua.
Jonan said he hopes the airport could be used commercially, not only for pioneer flights.
