Pangkalpinang, Bangka Belitung Islands (Antaranews Babel) - The Regional Police (Kapolda) of Bangka Belitung Islands will increase surveillance and security at places of worship in the region.
Bangka Belitung Islands Police Chief Brigadier General Syaiful Zachri stated here on Monday that the security and public order situation (kamtibmas) in the area was still safe after the bombing incidents in Surabaya and Sidoarjo on Sunday (May 13).
"I have also directed the district police to raise awareness and tighten security at the place of worship, the hub, and the commands` office. The personnel on duty must also establish synergy with the community and the Indonesian Military (TNI). We are not afraid to fight terrorism," he added.
Kapolda of the Bangka Belitung Province has appealed to the entire community to remain vigilant and to inform if they found anything suspicious.
"The public should remain vigilant and give information if anything suspicious is found. The role of the community is important in helping to maintain kamtibmas," he revealed.
Earlier, the East Java Police had reported that three bomb attacks had occurred at three churches in Surabaya, East Java Province, on Sunday morning.
"The bombing incidents occurred at the three locations of the Church of the Immaculate Santa Maria Ngagel, GKI Diponegoro Street, and Arjuna Church Street," Head of Police Public Relations of East Java, Commissioner of Police Frans Barung Mangera noted.
