Tanjung Pandan, Bangka Belitung (Antaranews Babel) - Minister of Religious Affairs Lukman Hakim Saiffudin opened the 3rd national spiritual camp of high school moslem youth (Rohis) at the campsite of Juru Seberang Village, Belitung District, Bangka Belitung Islands Province.
"This activity is carried out as a forum for gathering and exchanging information regarding spiritual activities and programs in their respective schools, such as skills and knowledge, so their insights develop," he said at Tanjung Pandan on Tuesday.
According to him, Rohis has great benefits in order to add an Islamic insight to students at school. For this reason, he hoped that the moslem youth would continue to improve their abilities and deepen their knowledge on Islam and other matters.
He said Rohis should be one of the positive activities that can provide additional religious knowledge so that messages of peace as taught by Islam can be conveyed well and disseminated.
"Let us spread the good things Islam has taught us," he said.
On that occasion, he also expressed his gratitude to all spiritual coaches who had been dedicating themselves to the development and progress of Rohis.
Director General of Islamic Education of the Religious Affairs Ministry Kamaruddin Amin hoped that through this activity Rohis could become religious activists with integrity and solidity.
"If the understanding of religion in the millennial era can be well conveyed in this kind of event, spiritual activists can become moderating agents who have an important position in Indonesia," he said.
The camp activities carried the theme "Forming a Generation of Literate and Moderate Islam". As many as 1,123 participants from 621 high schools / vocational schools from 298 districts participated in the activity, which took place from 5-10 November.
