Weetabula, West Sumba, NTT, Oct 18 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has asked the people of West Sumba in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) province to continue developing their region.
"Together, let us develop this province and district because the government wants to allocate more funds for NTT to build its infrastructure and to improve the animal husbandry sector," President Yudhoyono told assembled locals during a stopover at the Tambolaka airport here on Thursday.
Yudhoyono noted that the central government is serious about boosting the development in the region and asked the provincial and regional governments to cooperate with each other to improve the people's welfare.
Hundreds of people, including elementary school students, greeted the President at the airport during his 45-minute stopover.
"You have to study hard and well. The President and the First Lady will continue to pray for your success to be leaders, either at the regional or national level," President Yudhoyono told the students.
The head of state and his entourage boarded an Air Force Hercules plane from West Sumba to Labuhan Bajo before making an overland trip to Ruteng.
