Jakarta (Antara Babel) - Jusuf Kalla, who was declared on Monday to become Joko "Jokowi" Widodo's running mate in the upcoming July 9, 2014 presidential election, represented four political parties, officials stated.
"After the declaration of the Jokowi-Kalla pair on Monday, Jokowi said his running mate represented four political parties: Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), Nasdem, PKB, and Hanura," remarked PDIP Secretary General Tjahjo Kumolo.
Jokowi said Kalla represented four political parties to avoid a sense of confusion among the people because in reality those four political parties supported Jokowi and Kalla, Kumolo added.
Jusuf Kalla, popularly known as JK, is the right person to pair with Jokowi because they complement each other.
Tjahjo reiterated that Kalla has had a lot of experience in the government as he was the economic minister during Megawati Soekarnoputri's government and vice president during Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's government.
"Now turning 72 years old, Kalla is a mature political figure to pair up with Jokowi," Tjahjo noted.
