Jakarta (Antara Babel) - A Golkar Party member has said the Red-White coalition (KMP) will strongly oppose if Joko Widodo recruits former finance minister Sri Mulyani in his cabinet.
Bambang Soesatyo, the deputy treasurer of Golkar Party, which is part of the KMP, said here on Monday that Sri Mulyani's recruitment will only show the next government's reliance on foreign parties.
"Her appointment (as a minister) will prove our dependence on foreign organizations especially on the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank," he remarked at the parliament building.
Bambang stressed that Sri Mulyani's commitment to sell Indonesia's debt at a high cost has got him worrying that the Jokowi-JK cabinet will also be trapped in debts just like the current government of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono if it recruits Sri Mulyani.
Claiming that the KMP was the last bastion of Indonesia's economic sovereignty, Bambang stated if Mulyani was recruited, the coalition will strongly oppose.
"If it is true that SMI (Sri Mulyani) is going to be recruited as a cabinet member or an adviser, it means a foreign party, especially the IMF and the World Bank, has played a role. The KMP will fight it if it is true," he said.
Bambang reminded President-elect Jokowi of his commitment to "Trisakti" principles (self-reliance in political and economic sectors and cultural sovereignty) and his "Mental Revolution" platform.
He said Jokowi must prove that he and his supporting parties will support the local communities and not prioritize foreign interests.
Bambang also mentioned the allegations about SMI's involvement in the Century Bank case.
"There is a pending case involving SMI. We are still waiting for the Corruption Eradication Commission to come up with the legal status of Boediono (vice-president) as Boediono's case is linked to Sri Mulyani's," he observed.
It was earlier reported that vice-president-elect Jusuf Kalla had met with Sri Mulyani, who is the executive director of the World Bank in Washington DC, in mid August 2014.
The KMP had supported Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa duo in the Presidential election on July 9.
Jokowi-JK pair that won the election was supported by the Great Indonesia coalition led by the Indonesia Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP).
