Pangkalpinang, Bangka Belitung (Antara Babel) - As many as 20 Japanese investors have expressed their interest to develop tourism sector in the Province of Bangka Belitung (Babel) Islands, an official has stated.

 "We had a meeting with 20 Japanese investors and they expressed  interest to invest and promote tourism destinations on the island of Bangka and Belitung," Governor Rustam Effendi said here on Saturday.

According to him, the visit of 20 Japanese investors was under the coordination of the Central and Provincial governments to increase investment and tourist arrivals to Indonesia, in particular the Bangka Belitung Islands.

"The Ministry of Tourism has asked foreign investors to directly observe the potential of marine tourism, nature, art and culture in this region," he said.

"We strongly support the programs of the central government in developing the potential of tourism and tourist arrivals to this region," he pointed out.

To that end, the governor said his side has instructed the provincial office of culture and tourism to play an active role and provide information and data needed by investors for developing the tourism potential of this area.
