Jakarta (Antara Babel) - Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), in his opening remarks at the Indonesia-Korea Business Summit, Jakarta, on Tuesday, invited South Korean businessmen to invest in the creative industry sector in Indonesia.
"I want to invite Korean businessmen to take the next step to invest in the creative industry and tourism sectors," Jokowi noted.
The president said currently, the countries are in the fourth phase of industrial revolution that encompasses the use of artificial intelligence, robots, drones, automatic self-driving cars, and biotechnological developments.
"I have no doubt that South Korea will play an important role in this industrial revolution. However, this industrial revolution also comes with a paradox because if almost all things are being done by robots, the consumers will pay more for those tasks done by human hands. At the same time, when everything is done by AI and drones, I am sure that the involvement of humans would become more important than before," the president stated.
He also said that the people will give greater attention to real-life experiences.
"Because of this, our economy is shifting towards the service sectors, such as tourism and creative industry. Indonesia is a safe place to feel the real experience and adventure due to the cultural diversities, traditions, and handicrafts, which are vital to the development of the creative industry and social activities," he added.
He also noted that as Indonesia is the fourth-largest Facebook user and Jakarta is the biggest user of Twitter, Indonesians like to interact socially and use social media platforms.
"We are now in a new industrial era, and it changes our economic focus. We would like to follow the fourth industrial revolution, and I invite us all to experience it together," he stated during his opening speech.
The Indonesia-Korea Business Summit is being attended by more than 500 people, including the conglomerates from South Korea, to promote investment opportunities in Indonesia.
Industrial, tourism, energy, creative economy, manufacturing, lifestyle, connectivity, and information technology sectors are considered promising.
A memorandum of understanding will also be inked between the Indonesian Capital Investment Agency and the Korea Trade and Investment Agency on investment promotion.
