Pangkalpinang, Bangka Belitung (Antara Babel) - The annual Sail Indonesia event scheduled to be held in Bangka Belitung Province in 2016 has attracted yachts from 16 countries, a local government official stated.
The foreign skippers have registered their yachts for the annual event called the "Sail Karimata 2016," Head of Bangka Belitung Province's Maritime and Fisheries Office Sarjulianto noted here, Tuesday.
Yachts from countries including Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Korea, and China have registered to participate in the Sail Karimata event, he pointed out.
The skippers would anchor off Tanjung Kelayang beach in Belitung District, Serdang beach in Belitung Timur District, Klabat bay in Bangka Barat District, and Ketawai Island in Bangka Tengah District during the Sail Karimata 2016, he remarked.
This annual event aims to promote the province's marine tourism to international visitors and to attract local and foreign investors, Sarjulianto affirmed.
This year's Sail Indonesia event is called Sail Tomini in which Parigi Moutong District has been selected to host its main event on September 19, 2015.
The main event, which will be attended by President Joko Widodo, several ministers, and ambassadors from friendly countries, will take place at Kayubura beach.
