Koba, Babel (Antaranews Babel) - Rubber farmers in the district of Bangka Tengah of the Bangka Belitung (Babel) province, have complained about low price of latex.
The price of latex has remained low for long time that farmers were almost frustrated, a farmers said.
"I still hope the price of latex would pick up although it is not expected to hit the peak level," Budiman of Bangka Tengah said on Tuesday.
He said currently the price of latex paid by trades to farmers was around Rp4,500 - Rp5,000 per kilogram and it has not changed in the past several months.
The price is too low and is feared to force farmers to change their crop , Budiman said.
Many Indonesian farmers have complained about shrinking price of their commodities including fresh fruit bunches of oil palm and copra.
Palm oil and natural rubber are two major export commodities of the country.
Indonesia is the world largest producer of palm oil and the second largest for natural rubber.
