Pangkalpinang, Babel, Dec 30 (ANTARA) The Bangka-Belitung (Babel) provincial Health Office has asked the province's young people to learn more about the spread of HIV/AIDS.
"We have coordinated with the education office to add classes about Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) so students might anticipate the spread of the deadly disease," local Health Office spokesman Hendra Kusuma Jaya said here on Saturday.
He explained that it was necessary to teach the younger generation in the province about HIV/AIDS so that they could understand how the disease is transmitted .
In general, HIV/AIDS is transmitted through unprotected sexual activity, which has become increasingly prevalent in recent times.
Therefore, Hendra said the local health office is cooperating with the AIDS management commission (KPA) to learn more about HIV/AIDS eradication efforts.
He noted that HIV/AIDS management efforts were not just the responsibility of regional governments, but of all community figures, religious figures, and non-government organizations.
