Jakarta (Antara Babel) - The electability of the Jokowi-JK pair is still slightly higher than that of the Prabowo-Hatta duo, according to a recent survey by the Political Communication Institute (Polcomm) here on Tuesday.
According to the institute's recent survey that involved 1.2 thousand respondents from 33 provinces in the country, 80 percent of the respondents were aware of the track records of the candidates.
Their knowledge of the candidates' track records has affected their decision to express their aspirations for the presidential election on July 9.
"89.7 percent of the respondents said they have already made their decision for the July 9 election. The Prabowo-Hatta pair has an electability of 43.3 percent while that of the Jokowi-JK duo is recorded at 46.4 percent, thereby leaving a thin margin of 3.1 percent," noted Polcomm senior researcher Afdhal Makkuraga Putra.
Putra remarked that those who chose Prabowo and Hatta were looking forward to elect a strong leader who has vision, integrity, concept, and a clear framework and is able to bring about changes in Indonesia and reaffirm the country's sovereignty.
In the meantime, those supporting Jokowi and JK believed that Indonesia now needs a humble and populist leader, who prioritizes work, has a proven track record, and who is creative, innovative, and represents people at the grass root level.
According to the survey, 22.4 percent male and 20.9 percent female respondents preferred Prabowo and Hatta, while 23.9 percent male and 22.4 percent female respondents chose Jokowi-JK.
Putra explained that the male respondents showed greater concern on issues related to employment, national economic improvements, welfare and dedication, and competence and character of the candidates.
In the meantime, the female respondents laid greater emphasis on issues concerning food and clothing prices, attention to the poor, development distribution in villages, wisdom, and responsibility.
