Jakarta (Antara Babel) - Presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto has stressed he will respect the people's decision in next Wednesday's presidential elections on July 9, 2014.
"We will respect the people's decision for the interest of the beloved nation," Prabowo said in his closing statement at the end of the final round of the presidential debate here on Saturday night.
He said that the implementation of the presidential election was a constitutional responsibility for building democracy and on July 9, 2014 the people would vote for their president.
If the people give the mandate to the Prabowo-Hatta pair, he said, the presidential pair and its supporters in coalition promised to give priority to improving the welfare and prosperity of the people and to build a respectable Indonesian nation.
"The red-and-white coalition will fight for the Indonesian people to create a prosperous and independent nation which stands on its own feet," he said.
Saturday night's debate was the last round before presidential contestants entered the cooling off period on July 6 - July 8.
The General Elections Commission (KPU) has organized the presidential campaigns for a period of June 7 - July 5, before Indonesians vote for their choices in the elections on July 9, 2014.
A total of 190,307,134 eligible voters are registered by the General Elections Commission for July 9, 2014 presidential elections, consisting of 188,268,423 voters at home and 2,038,711 overseas.
Of the total, 95,220,799 are male eligible voters and 95,086,335 others are female voters.
