Lubuk Besar, Babel (Antara Babel) - Police of the sub-district of Lubuk Besar in Central Bangka district, Bangka-Belitung (Babel) province, discussed with community leaders preventive measures against possible infiltration of agents of the Iraq, Syria Islamic State (ISIS) in that area.
"We have not seen signs of the radical Islamic movement surfacing in this area but we need to take precaution to guarantee security," Lubuk Besar police chief first inspector Henri Amor said here on Saturday.
Henri said all mass organizations and community and religious leaders in this area gathered here on Friday to discuss security related to threat of the ISIS ideology to religious harmony and social security.
He said the initiative was taken in line with an instruction from higher authorities to oppose the ISIS movement that calls for the establishment of an Islamic state in the country.
Police want the people aware that ISIS is a threat to peace and security, he said.
"Cooperation with the community and religious leaders is important as they are always close to the people," he said.
