Pangkalpinang (Antara Babel) - The culture and tourism office of Bangka Belitung is preparing the Admiral Cheng Ho cruise tourism to attract more Chinese tourists to the province.

"We have set a target to receive ten thousand Chinese tourists to Bangka Belitung as the province shares a strong historical significance with Admiral Cheng Ho trading cruise," head of the office KA Tajuddin said here Thursday.

He added that the Ministry of Tourism had launched the Admiral Cheng Ho cruise tourism on February 21 to attract more Chinese tourist to Indonesia.

"The cruise will offer tourists glimpses of historical places that the admiral visited during the fifteenth century," Tajuddin remarked.

During his cruise, Cheng Ho visited nine regions in Indonesia, namely Batam (Riau Islands province), Aceh, North Sumatra, South Sumatra, Bangka Belitung, Central Java, East Java, and Bali provinces.

The office has been putting together a number of art and cultural performances introduced by Chinese and Malay communities in Bangka Belitung.

"We hope people will choose Bangka Belitung as their tourism and annual holiday destination," Tajuddin said.
