Pangkalpinang, Bangka Belitung (Antara Babel) - The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Government of Indonesia launched a road map of bureaucracy reform (2013-2017) on Tuesday for the province of Bangka Belitung.
"This launch will make the province of Bangka Belitung became the second in the country, after Gorontalo, to formulate such road map," Deputy Country Director UNDP Indonesia Beate Trankmann said here on Tuesday.
Trankmaan stated the road map bureaucracy reform was part of UNDP's strong commitment to supporting the institutional capacities of provincial government in Indonesia.
"A strong bureaucracy is vital to achieving major development objectives such as reducing poverty, narrowing inequality, promoting private sector investments, and providing the goods and services that society needs," said Trankmaan.
She added that every Indonesian, whether in Jakarta or Bangka Belitung, must feel their government is working for them and helping them improve their lives.
The Bangka Belitung road map of bureaucracy contains detailed plans to improve the quality of public service in the province, which is considered a key to build an effective democratic governance system that offer sustaining solutions to poverty and inequality.
"The road map has eight primary programs expected to be in place by this year, they are; the digitization of the legal information documentation network, an integrated civil servants attendance list, civil servants database, the development of public complaints mechanism on Soekarno-Hatta hospital service in Air Anyir, a one stop service on goods and services procurement, an online complaint mechanism system on public service as well as establishing the minimum standards on public service delivery," she said.
The road map was formulated by a team appointed by the Bangka Belitung Governor in mid 2012 under the technical guidance of the UNDP and National Development Planning Board (Bappenas) through the Provincial Governance Strengthening Program (PGSP).
