Denpasar, Bali (Antara Babel) - Presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto conducted an election campaign at Lumintang square, here, on Saturday.
Presidential and vice presidential candidates, respectively, Prabowo Subianto and Hatta Rajasa match their rivals, Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Jusuf Kalla, in terms of the number of supporters in Bali, Deputy Chairman of Great Indonesian Movement Party (Gerindra) Edi Prabowo said here on Saturday.
"We have an equal chance in Bali," he said.
He expressed his optimism that swing voters would give their votes to the Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa duo.
They had better chances in nine cities and districts in Bali, he added.
"In Denpasar, we predict that the number of ballots would be almost equal (for both presidential candidates)," he said.
Some 1,200 police personnel were deployed to guard the campaign area at Lumintang square, in downtown Denpasar.
Indonesia will hold a democratic presidential election on July 9, 2014, which will have only two pairs of presidential and vice-presidential candidates: Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa and Joko Widodo (Jokowi)-Jusuf Kalla.
Prabowo Subianto is a retired military general and the founder of Gerindra (Great Indonesia Movement) Party, while his running mate, Hatta Rajasa, is a former coordinating minister for economic affairs and the chairman of the National Mandate Party (PAN).
Jokowi is Jakarta's governor and a cadre of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), while his running mate, Jusuf Kalla (JK), is a former vice president and a senior politician of the Golkar Party.
