"The event is intended to promote the beauty of Bangka as tourism destination, especially for cultural marine tourism destination," said a senior official of Bangka Culture and Tourism Indrata Yusaka here on Saturday.
The competitors of Triathlon will compete to win Rp85 millions or about US$8,767 cash prize.
"The event will be held out door traversing the beautiful nature of Bangka. One of the spot is the swimming area in Matras Beach," he said.
Since the opening of Sungailiat Triathlon registration on February 1, the event has attracted worldwide attention.
"There are three countries that signed up to the Triathlon Sungailiat such as the United States, Canada and Australia," he said.
The entry fee is Rp300.000 or about US$30.94 so the participants to get the race kit such as sport shirt, timing chip, swim cap, and goodie bag.
Meanwhile, for the entry fee Rp1.300.000 or about US$134.09, the participants will get race kit plus pre event dinner, Seafood Party, souvenir, two nights accommodation at Parai Beach Ressort, Novila Boutique Ressort or Tanjung Pesona Ressort.
with total cash prize of Rp85 millions the participants will be competing for following categories; overall winner, below 30 years, 30 - 40 years and above 40 years.
The Triathlon will consists of 750 meter swim in calm clear coastal water, 20 kilometer bike race on the urban roads across the city center, and 5 kilometer run in panoramic smooth tracks.
