Jakarta (Antaranews Babel) - President Joko Widodo has reportedly written a letter to the House of Representatives (DPR) proposing candidates for the Bank Indonesia (BI) governor's post for the 2018-2023 term to undergo a fit and proper test.
"It has been sent by the State Secretariat and has reached the DPR," Misbakum, a member of the House Commission XI, noted here on Friday.
However, the Golkar Party politician has refused to divulge the names of the candidates.
"The letter is confidential, so only the DPR speaker knows about them," he noted.
The House Speaker is expected to read out the letter during a plenary session of the DPR. The DPR's Consultative Body will later hold a discussion regarding the letter and assign the House Commission XI to conduct a fit and proper test on the candidates.
Chief of the vice president's expert team Sofyan Wanandi had stated earlier that four candidates to be proposed to the president were incumbent BI Governor Agus Martowardojo, BI Deputy Governor Perry Warjiyo, National Development Planning Minister Bambang Brodjonegoro, and former finance minister Chatib Basri.
Martowardojo is expected to end his term in office as BI governor on May 15, 2018.
As scheduled earlier, the president will send candidates for the post of BI governor to the DPR in the third week of February 2018.
