Koba, Bangka Belitung (Antara Babel) - Floods submerged 131 houses in the sub-districts of Koba and Lubuk Besar, Central Bangka District, Bangka Belitung Province, on Sunday.

The flooding was triggered by incessant heavy rains that had fallen since Friday, Deputy District Head of Central Bangka Patrianusa Sjahrun said here, Sunday.

Floodwaters reaching a height of up to one meter affected tens of villages, including Lubuk Besar, Lubuk Pabrik, Lubuk Lingkuk, and Kulur Ilir villages, in the two sub-districts.

Flood victims have been evacuated to safer places and received relief aid, he stated.

In the meantime, the Bangka Belitung Search and Rescue Office (Basarnas) reported that some 200 houses in 10 villages in the district of Central Banka have been flooded since Saturday.

"The sub-districts of Koba and Lubuk Besar are badly hit by floods. Some 200 houses have been inundated, and hundreds of villagers have been evacuated," Head of the Bangka Belitung Basarnas  Indra Cahyadi said.

The economic activities of the two sub-districts were paralyzed due to the floods that cut off eight roads.

In Koba Sub-district, the floods hit Padang Mulya and Koba villages at a height of an adult's chess, he stated.

In Lubuk Besar sub-district, flood-affected villages included  Kulur, Kulur Ilir, Trubus, Perlang, Lubuk Besar, Lubuk Lingkuk, Lubuk Pabrik and Batu Beriga, he noted.

No casualties were reported so far, he added.

Several provinces are currently experiencing flooding and landslides, with the rainy season reaching its peak between January and February.  
    
In Gresik, East Java, three villagers were dragged and killed by floods that hit Kajar and Gadding Watu hamlets,  Menganti Subdistrict on Friday.

Gresik's Regional Natural Disaster Mitigation Office (BPBD) Head Abu Hasan said on Saturday that the floods were triggered by torrential rain pouring on the areas on Friday.

In Bima District, West Nusa Tenggara, a many as 473 houses in five villages in Bima district, West Nusa Tenggara province, were flooded, following incessant heavy rains over the last weekend.

The five flood-affected villages were Kananga, Nggembe, and Leu in Bolo sub-district, and Monggo and Ncandi in Madapangga sub-district, a member of the Indonesian Amateur Radio Organization (Orari), Candra Komala, said recently.  
 
In Nggembe village, some 98 houses, six hectares of rice fields and several milkfish ponds were flooded, while 203 houses were inundated in Monggo and 100 in Ncandi.
