Jakarta (Antara Babel) - Coordinating Minister for Economy Darmin Nasution said he is optimistic the country could still keep its inflation below 4 percent although it was quite high in the early months of the year.
"We believe we still could keep the country's inflation below 4 percent," Darmin said after a coordinating meeting on controlling high risk imports here on Tuesday.
Last year, the country's inflation was 3.02 percent . In July this year, the country's inflation was 0.22 percent, according to the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS).
The inflation in July brought the country's total inflation to 2.6 percent in the first seven months of the year, and 3.88 percent year-on-year in July.
Darmin said he expected the inflation rates would be lower in the remaining months of the year that the target could be reached.
The target for inflation rate set in the 2017 state budget was 4 percent but later the target was widened to 4.3 percent.
