Pangkalpinang (Antara Babel) - Pangkalpinang Mayor Muhammad Irwansyah has called on the Bangka-Belitung (Babel) branch of Indonesian Young Businessmen Association (Hipmi) to promote tourism in the city.
"Hipmi is also part of Pangkalpinang municipal administration, and therefore, I urge its assistance to encourage the tourism sector here," Irwansyah noted on Monday.
He remarked that the group of young businessmen in the association in Babel province was expected to help the local government improve the economy through the tourism sector.
"The municipal administration this year launches Visit Pangkalpinang 2015 and hopes Hipmi will play an active role to make the program a great success," Irwansyah stated.
According to him, Bangka Island and the city of Pangkalpinang have several tourist attractions that need to be developed.
"To develop the tourism potential, we have to work hard and start now in order to make them even more attractive for both domestic and foreign tourists," he emphasized.
Therefore, he called on Hipmi to cooperate with the local government in an effort to make Pangkalpinang at par with other cities in terms of tourism.
