The government of Central Bangka regency asked poultry farmers to be vigilant and do the "bio-security" in order to anticipate the outbreak of the new strain of the avian flu virus.
"Bio security is a precaution that should be done to prevent the emergence of any diseases, including the new strain of the avian flu virus whichs is currently widespread in Java," said the official of Central Bangka Regency, Edi Romdhoni in Koba, Thursday.
Bio security, said Edi, was done by securing the environment's hygene around poultry farms.
"It can be done by spraying disinfectant containing antiseptic," he said.
Luckily, in Central Bangka, the new strain of the avian flu virus is not found.
Bio security or cleanup, said Edi, ideally done every single time after harvest.
"So after harvest, we take a break first and clean the cage, do not rush to fill it up again with a new chicks," he said.
